Does writing energize or exhaust you?

It does both. When I start to write and I get into the “zone” it energizes me. If I write for more than two hours without taking a break, I get exhausted.

Do you ever write under a pseudonym? If not have you considered it? Why or why not?

Nope, and yes I’ve considered it many times but haven’t because it would be a lot of work. Think about it . . . I’d have to do a whole new Amazon and Facebook page. I’d have to set up new accounts for other social media places. I don’t have the time or energy to keep up with another profile.

Does a big ego help or hurt writers? Why or why not?

Hurts. Because they’re so self-centered and full of themselves, they fail to recognize the opportunities they can have if they weren’t such an ass monkey. I can’t stand egotistical people. LOL

What was the best money you ever spent as a writer?

Buying the hubster a $1,000.00 Ford four-wheel drive vehicle that runs great.

What does writing success look like to you? Have you achieved it?

There are different forms of success in the literary world. I’m successful in that most readers love my writing style, characters, and story. I’m not successful in being able to write stories for a living. I’m working on it. I’m also not successful in marketing. I’ve been trying hard for years to get that part nailed down and so far, I’ve had minimal success in that area.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book? What sources do you use?

I do all kinds of research. I don’t research before beginning a book. I research as I write the book. I use Google. I love Google. I did a ton of research for my book Ameerah because she was a flapper gal in the 1920s, so I had to research that era. It was fun, though. I love Ameerah.

How do you select the names of your characters? Have you ever regretted choosing a particular name? Why?

Sometimes names fall into my head, other times I hear a cool one, so I write it down on a name list I have. I’ve also used a name generator. I did that for a few of my characters in my last book Legends of Deceit. No, I’ve never regretted choosing a name.

What is the hardest type of scene to write?

A scene that describes something I’m not familiar with.

If you could have dinner with four people, living or dead, who would they be and what would you want to ask them?

Marilyn Monroe—I’d ask her if she’s happy and if it’s hard for her to separate being Marilyn Monroe and who she really is which is Norma Jean. Because she once said she never wanted to be Marilyn—it just happened. Marilyn’s like a veil she wears over Norma Jean.

Jimi Hendrix—What’s your philosophy on life? How do you see this world? What would you do if you never succeeded as a guitar player? Can you play a song for me?

George Orwell—I loved your books 1984 and Animal Farm. How did you come up with 1984? Do you create an outline before you write? If so, what’s your process? How long does it take you to write a book and how many hours a day do you write?

Constantine—What did all the scriptures/writings you and the Council of Nicaea throw away say? Then I’d go on to ask him more questions based on his answer to my first one.

What platform has brought you the most success in marketing your books?

Ads.

About Rebekkah:

Rebekkah Ford grew up in a family that dealt with the paranormal world. Her parents Charlie and Geri Wilhelm were the directors of the UFO Investigator’s League in Fairfield, Ohio. They also investigated ghost hauntings and Bigfoot sightings in addition to extraterrestrial cases. Growing up in this type of environment and having the passion for writing stories is what drove Rebekkah at an early age to write tales dealing with the paranormal world. Her fascination with the unknown is what led her to write the Beyond the Eyes trilogy, its companion Tangled Roots, Ameerah, and Legends of Deceit.

Rebekkah resides in rural North Dakota, in a farming community of about 1,800 people and loves where she lives. She has an irreverent sense of humor, loves coffee, and yummy food makes her happy.
