Does writing energize or exhaust you?

I like writing and feel it energizes me. It makes me want to write more.

Do you ever write under a pseudonym? If not have you considered it? Why or why not?

Not yet. I am happy to have my name associated with my writing.

Does a big ego help or hurt writers? Why or why not?

If one is truly successful, then having a big ego is justified. However, it can fool one into thinking you are better than you are. Like the old saying, Good better best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better best.

What was the best money you ever spent as a writer?

Having my books professionally edited. Unfortunately, I did not do this with my first book. As a result, it received some poor reviews. I later had it edited and republished, with sales much better. Although you might think your writing is good, it is essential to have it edited before sending it to a publisher/agent, or even if self-publishing.  Preferably get it done by one recommended to you by someone who has successfully used them.

What does writing success look like to you? Have you achieved it?

Not yet, but I live in hope. In conjunction with Voyage Media I wrote a pilot episode for a possible television series, based on my novel Follow in the Tigerman’s Footsteps. However, I think my new novel could stand a better chance of being used as the basis for a film, although the explicit sex scenes would have to be omitted.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book? What sources do you use?

I don’t research being starting writing, but carry out research during writing to ensure I have my facts straight. As for what sources I use, it depends on what I am looking for. I usually find Google search is the first place to start looking for information.

How do you select the names of your characters? Have you ever regretted choosing a particular name? Why?

The names I use just come to mind. However, I make sure the names are not connected in any way to any of my friends, either alive or dead.

What is the hardest type of scene to write?

Well, that’s not an easy question to answer, but I would say finance/law as I have a very limited knowledge of these.

If you could have dinner with four people, living or dead, who would they be and what would you want to ask them?

motherMy mother. Question. Why did you leave all the family photos to my niece Gale

822-james-pattersonJames Patterson. Question. Was there a time when you had doubts about your ability to write a bestseller.

mtMargaret Thatcher. Question. Why do you think everything went wrong during your last year as Prime Minister..

P612300 RED

Tom Clancy. Question. How do you manage to come up with all the titles for your books?

What platform has brought you the most success in marketing your books?

At present Amazon, on whose site my four previous books are listed. However, for my new novel, I intend trying out Fliploud and Bookbub

  1. ‘I don’t research being starting writing, but carry out research during writing to ensure I have my facts straight.’ Me too. Going on a voyage of discovery is part of the joy of writing. 🙂
